About

We started with the business, then chose the technology

Mattingly Intelligence is the AI and data arm of Mattingly, an advisory firm whose people have sat in the operating seats of industrial businesses. Not a technology company that picked an industry to sell into.

Technology companies start with

What can the technology do?

Mattingly starts with

What does the business need to do better?

How we work

Built from the business backwards

The four principles that govern Mattingly's advisory work govern what gets built here.

01

Built by operators

People who have run manufacturing, logistics, packaging and waste businesses. Not a technology firm that picked a sector to sell into.

02

Practical over theoretical

We start with the work somebody does on a Tuesday, then ask which part of it technology should touch.

03

Useful beats impressive

AI and automation go where they change the result. Where they do not, we say so and leave it alone.

04

Context changes the answer

The same number means different things depending on how you contract, how your costs move and what you can influence.

Where this came from

Two problems we kept meeting in other people’s businesses

People couldn’t use AI on the work that mattered

Every business we worked in had capable people carefully leaving the important details out of a public AI tool, and getting a general answer back. HeyMi exists because the useful version of that question has to stay inside the business.

The data underneath was never ready

Every analysis started with a fortnight of cleaning somebody else’s master data by hand, and the same fortnight was spent again the following year. Data Mi exists because that work should be written down once and run automatically after that.

Where we are

Geelong, Victoria. Close enough to Melbourne to be there in an hour, far enough out to have spent a lot of time in regional plants and depots.

Our people

Senior operators, not a sales team

The people you meet in the first conversation are the people who do the work.
